The Super Bowl isn't just a game anymore — or is it less than it used to be?

My mom is a die-hard football fan. She lives and breathes for her Steelers (or, as we say in Pittsburgh, the Stillers), riding the highs and lows of each season with unwavering loyalty. She celebrates the sport for what it is — passion, grit, and strategy.

Me? I never caught that fever. Football just isn't my thing. For years, I'd join my husband on Super Bowl Sunday, but mostly for the commercials and halftime show rather than the game itself.

But this year was different. I skipped the whole spectacle to catch up on articles, plan my week, and dive into my latest fiction read.

Judging by the buzz on the news and social media this morning, I missed a lot.
