Setting Up Your Office To Be Location-Ready

Five items that make up my business office workspace.

My home office is sparse compared to a lot of my colleagues. When they share images of their workspace, I get anxious at the amount of equipment and things surrounding them.

I’m sure it’s a combination of the clutter that would distract me and the planning to pick what I need to work on the road.

I opt for a few key pieces of equipment that allow me to run my business from my home office and any location I happen to be in.

Here’s my setup:

  • Standing Desk
    My desk is electric, so I can work either standing or sitting when I am in my home office, but if I’m on the road, I take the riser that allows me to adjust the height of my laptop no matter what surface I have available.
  • Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
    Because I like to work with my device at eye level, I usually have my laptop in a riser. This makes working on the keyboard and trackpad difficult, so I rely on my keyboard and mouse. I also work on my iPad, so having these items makes that process more manageable, too.
  • iPad Air
    Speaking of the iPad, I use it for multiple purposes. The first is a second screen, so when I’m in creative mode or web design, I can see my document or project…
