Let’s rewind to the late ’90s, when the internet — then a big, new, exciting mystery, opened a world of endless opportunities for me.

My story begins when my dad brought home our first computer. We played games that opened a new world of fun.

It wasn't long before we discovered AOL Instant Messenger, and the joy of talking to people online added to the adventure.

Technology was a novelty back then. Our free time was spent outdoors, causing some mischief in the neighborhood. We learned by asking humans and by making mistakes — without embarrassing videos.

You might think this old-fashioned upbringing would leave me unprepared for the tech-driven world, but, in truth, it laid the foundation for how to pivot quickly.

The Internet Beckons

It was around 1997 when I made my first foray into remote working, armed with a painfully slow dial-up connection.

The world was changing, and I found myself working for a forward-thinking company that believed in the possibilities of the internet and faced the challenge of needing more physical workspace.

They say life begins at 40, but I’m proof it gets even better at 60—because thriving doesn’t have an age limit, and neither does dreaming big.
